SpRiNg BrEaK 2010

So I vowed to not think about or do anything work related during my Spring Break and I kept my promise. It started off with Austin's Baptism on Saturday. It was after the 5pm mass and then we came back to our place to have people over for the celebration. It was a beautiful and special time with family and friends. Austin's Godparents are my brother, Michael and one of my best friends, Katherine.

On Monday, the whole family when to Zilker Park and walked around the lake. We took in the beautiful weather. It was perfect.

This is how Austin "chills" and people watches.

In the river...it was so cold! I couldn't believe people were swimming in it!
Tuesday was rainy so I decided to take the girls to Alamo Drafthouse for Baby Day and watch Alice in Wonderland. Thank goodness Sarah joined us because Austin decided that she was not gonna fall asleep, no matter how tired she was! It was a great movie though and we had fun!

On Wednesday, I did our taxes (YAY REFUND) and then we all dressed up in our green at home to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. I made Cadyn green milk and Mommy and Daddy had their green beer!

Thursday was Mommy Day. Mimi and Pops (Thank You Thank You)took care of the girls while Chris was at work and Mommy got to play at SXSW with Reese squared, Sarah, Michael and Fabian. Michael started off by taking us to Urban Outfitters (we had fun rides in the Jeep...see my hoodie picture below) where we met up with Fabian and then headed to Cedar Street after watching a couple of bands. After Fabian so rudely left and got himself a bagel, we were expecting at least some free BBQ at Cedar Street, but there was none. So we called up CReese and told her to get us some nuggets!! And she did...spicy nuggets from Wendy's because they were the ones on the dollar menu. Needless to say, my wuss brother and I had mouths that were on fire. Michael was asking for milk! Too funny! We saw Minus the Bear, Uffie and Miike Snow there. Michael had to go to work after that so the rest of us went to Auditorium Shores to see Ozomatli. Fun times. Jenn, Jason and Court went home afterwards. I was about to head home with them until Sarah asked me, tauntingly, "So this is the SXSW experience you were telling me about? Leaving at 9pm?!?" I then responded with a look that might have resembled an "It's already been broughted" look and Fabian, Sarah and I headed to Austin Music Hall to try to see Stone Temple Pilots. We were standing in line and they told Fabian his camera couldn't get in so that meant that we weren't getting in...Wahoo's it was! After Wahoo's we headed to Elysium to see what it was going to be like for Crystal Method and Steve Aoki...not bad...$20 to get in. We did and danced for 3 hours straight. My ears are STILL ringing from that night. Then Fabian safely drove Sarah and I back to Reese's house after Dance Party USA.

The rest of the week was pretty chill. Friday, Austin had her 9 month check up (I can't believe she is 9 months already). She was all good! She is crawling all over the place. When she crawls, she doesn't necessarily crawl on all fours: she crawls with a foot and drags the other leg behind. Pretty funny if you ask me. When she's sitting, she likes to go around in circles. Pops says she is "screwing herself into the ground." She has started trying some solid foods. She still just kinda looks at it and wants you to feed her, but she is learning to chew/mash up her food. She still only has her two bottom teeth. I will try to put a video up soon!

Week before Spring Break

So this past week was full of excitement. First of all, after our snow day, we had a beautiful day on March 3. I took the girls to the park for a while.

On Thursday, Cadyn had her first soccer practice ever. Too cute for words!

Unfortunately, Cadyn couldn't play in her first game Saturday because she caught a stomach bug on Friday night. We tried to have a family night and watch "Where the Wild Things Are," but it didn't really work out the way we planned. We also had to miss Molly's 2nd birthday party on Saturday. So sad.

On an even sadder note, we are praying very, very, very hard for a 2 year old, Layla Grace Marsh. She is the youngest daughter of one of my high school friends. She is in the dying stages of Stage 4 Neuroblastoma. She is suffering, but in her short 2 years, she has done more than most of could in a full lifetime. She has made people love more and be closer to their families. Please read her parents' blog. Or you can even catch up on their tweets on Twitter. It's a very touching and heartbreaking story. You can donate on the blog website. I am also in the beginning stages of planning a benefit concert in Austin with some local bands. Keep you posted on my Facebook page. Only 4 more days until Spring Break!
